7,5 cm Leichtes Infanteriegeschütz 18
The 7.5 cm leichtes Infanteriegeschütz 18 was often abbreviated as Le.IG18 or sometimes even just IG18. These guns were first developed in 1927 by the firm of Rheinmetall. They remained in production throughout the war. These guns were general-purpose support guns. Their light weight (under 900 lbs) and small size made them able to be employed in a variety of situations. These guns were also provided with a wide variety of different rounds for different purposes. There were two main styles of wheels supplied with these guns. Some were fitted with traditional wagon-type wheels for horse-drawn limbers and pneumatic tires for motorized vehicle towing. This gun could be used for direct or indirect fire.
These photographs were taken from a number of online sources and auction sites. They are presented here for educational purposes.
